Gentlemen, Start Your Engines......

Mikey had his Boy Scout Pine Wood Derby race today. It was intense. After three heats, Mikey took two first place finishes, and one second. His car was ultimately brought down by a close race with the champion. Mike represented his roots well. His car number was 30, after his fav Tiger. His car name was registered as "Speedlio". His driver even had some wild hair like Maggs. Fortunately, his car placed better than the Tigers did.

Speedlio takes 1st in heat #2. Turn up the volume to hear Mikey's reaction.

Car owner Mikey (fresh from a front tooth extraction) with his cert.

I heard some folks in the crowd whisper that he reminded them of Junior

Mikey also received an award for Most Creative. His car was the only one at the race with a driver. A noticeable edge.

This photo was taken moments before the driver stood up and did a back flip for the fans.

Mikey gets schooled in the Sweet Science...

Mikey went to a baseball clinic this past weekend. There were former pros from MLB (Expos, Rockies, and Cubs) to help coach the kids. There were two scouts also giving the kids tips, one from the Cubs and one from the Mets. It was pretty sweet. Mikey got his picture in the paper. I put the link at the end.

The Milton and Pace HS Varsity teams assisted. Mikey being told to keep his elbow up. Throwing a 4-seamer.

Mikey and I both get our hair cut at Sport Clips. So, this was pretty exciting. Big ups SC.

Check out this site from the Pensacola newspaper. Representing all those living near da real 8-Mile!

Also, once you launch the site above, Mikey also makes an appearance in the previous two photos (I did not notice this until later)

Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

We've been playing the Wii. I have been battling beasts in Cabela's Dangerous Hunts, Mikey and Sammy have been racing MarioKart (thanks Uncle E and Aunt T), and Ras has even been using the axe to play guitar hero. It's too cold to go outside. We're talking low 50's.

Red Dawn...WOLVERINES!!!!!

Mikey and I spent the night on the USS Alabama with the scouts this past weekend. I was not really looking forward to it, but it ended up being a blast. Mikey and I explored the entire ship. It was so big that even with 100 or so scouts on board, you could go to areas on the ship where you could not hear another person. Eerie. Here are some photos...

Mikey standing in front of raw U.S. power

We slept in the same bunks as the Navy personnel that sailed on the ship

Awaiting a kamikaze attack

We ate beef jerky, drank soda, stayed up late, and did mad libs. God Bless America.

Mikey taking damage from "Yahtzee's".... some sort of kamikaze/nazi cross-over super enemy he came up with. If you look carefully at the end of the video, you can see that Mikey unfortunately did not make it. Yahtzees 1, Mikey 0.

Good Luck Lions!

As the Lions make their way through the playoffs on the way to the Superbowl in Tampa this year (prediction Lions 38, Patriots 17), I thought I would post some old photos from the Glory Years.
